A new ‘living room’ has been added to The Zeeland Living Room: The Floating Living Room (Drijvende Huiskamer). It is being realised in cooperation with with Amels Shipyards, HZ University of Applied Sciences and, amongst others, housing corporations. In October, a workshop was held in which companies and institutions were first brought into contact with each other to exchange knowledge and experience about the possibilities that machine vision systems offer in this respect.

workplace
In the Zeeland Living Room, wishes and needs of inhabitants are key. This discipline, called ‘meetings’ is now in full swing. The Zeeland Living Room now also focuses on the discipline ‘workplace’. Together with knowledge institutes and companies, The Zeeland Living Room will search for possibilities to develop accessible, get-at-able and future proof technological solutions that give its users optimum control of their direct living environment.

voice and gesture control
HZ University of Applied Sciences students research the possibilities of the Floating Living Room. On superyachts everything is tablet controlled these days, but project partner Amels would like to know what the possibilities for voice and gesture control are. The students will do an exploratory research and consecutively, they will start the development of gesture and voice control command protocols for two different situations: a living room on a luxury yacht where light, sound, service and other gadgets are controlled and a living room of a disabled person.
